A Rainy Morning in Arkansas

Good Tuesday morning from the Natural State!

Yes, I’m in Arkansas. How I got here is another story for another time—hopefully very soon. For now, I wanted to let you know that I overcame the cold that prevented me from being admitted to the hospital last Tuesday, and on Wednesday, I made a marathon drive home to Florida. It was awful, and like staying up all night chatting with friends, the days of being able to drive for 15 hours are behind me. I had a wonderful, short visit with John, Keifer, and of course, my beloved fur babies, but it’s time to get down to business now. Nancy, the transplant coordinator, was off for the long Memorial Day weekend, but I suspect I will hear from her quite soon this morning, and she will be scrambling to arrange my inevitable admittance to the BMT floor of OU Medical Center for the transplant. Hopefully, that will happen this week, maybe tomorrow or Thursday, but the cold and my trip home may have created another delay. I would hate that, but there is a distinct possibility that I can’t ignore.

For now, I will continue my journey back to Oklahoma with a brief stop for breakfast with a dear friend from Fayetteville, where I lived for 10 years from 1997-2007. I believe it’s raining, so I’d better get on the road.

More to come…
